Description

"Introduction to Mandolin for Beginners" by Bert Casey Brought to you by "CVLS"   Good day and of course, as the top logo says , as usual, "Welcome", welcome to an auction which I shall try to be as brief and painless I can make it for all of us~!~!   We are selling these excellent "Bert Casey" DVD's in their original cases for me and my friends who were looking to add a little extra sounds to our bands, and I already started the Mandolin back in the 1970's when I was playing Rhythm Guitar, 12 Stringed Acoustic/Elec.using an "Open-mouth-pickup from Dean _Markley" and converted to Bass for many many years, but some songs required something a little bit "more or less" as the gig demanded or the genre, I figured that since I had a mandolin to practice on, and over the weekend I had applied what I had learned all of those years to the man'lin, ( as we who learned to play the Man'lin we get to calling them jus' that..the Man'lin and drop the "do" in the middle, so I drop it from time to time here so we can git used to being "FULL-FLEDGED-Manlin Players."   I bought a diverse grouping of Mandolins with the intention to have these beautiful and charming instruments to learn mostly melodies from the ol European / Portuguese / Latin styles of music, and , of course I wanted to "M~E~L~D" their sound and their styles into our already existing song lists, so we worked on songs like "Brown-Eyed-Girl (Van Morrison)"" Nadine" (Chuck Berry [Brown Eyed Handsome Man] ) Julio (Paul Simon) and we worked more and more on as many songs we felt needed "SUMPTHIN'" some melody, as we went along, we increased our knowledge of music, and I invested in to "Bert Casey's Introduction to the Mandolin for Beginners" to teach me my methodologies..., then I used that to learn them as the Man'lin is basically the strings of a guitar, one octave higher and then doubled up with another string one more octave up from there, but the bottom two strings (or the bottom two pair , (" E & A" were just the higher strings at equal octaves....{Difficult to put into words, but the reading is correct~!~!~!} So, it was my job (like I needed another~!~!) to bring the man'lin into the songs that we voted were needed in to the our own brands of music which included: Blues, Rock, R & B, Country, Southern Rock and all sorts of music I have learned throughout the past 50 years playing in my bands with a load of friends and we had a ball making our audience "get their motors runnin" and move their feet, and dance, dance, dance~!~!Well, we did it and we had a ball, but I learned one thing: It seemed to me that I had to learn another language of music when I got to playing the rhythms and leads in my music, and along with my new mandolins in creating my new styles of "Mando-Music"   I bought this DVD along with other Books and other Man'lin books that I now sell for "The Watch and Learn Co." along with a few things to help me get along, and I bought these examples of DVD's and CD's along with some books and I learned one thing: as I picked up these " Introduction to Mandolin for Beginners by Bert Casey"I found that using the DVD that I am presenting here, was a fantastic help in learning and teaching my arms and hands to do what they were not exactly so used to doing, and with the use of " The Introduction to the Mandolin for Beginners with Bert Casey" was an enormous help as I had NO-ONE to show me step # 1 to get me started...E~V~E~R~!  I quickly got to the point of realizing what "Mr. Bert Casey" was talkin' about and I have to admit I thought that it would be too basic for me, and it would have taken me a hundred times as long to learn the "Man'lin" which I thought it would...but I had to take some of what I wrongly thought back, as they even taught songs, and showed you a host of things that you "picked up by ear"...BUT... WRONGLY~!~! For instance: How to hold your plectrum; How to hold the neck in a proper fashion; Proper Thumb and finger positions. How to place the different styles of "mando's" properly; UpstrokesSlidesHAMMERONS; Balancing the "MANDO";Left hand-thumb pressure and position Using the plectrum (pick) to do down strokes, and up strokes, and even: Moving your hands up and down the fret board;Even troubleshooting buzzing, and improper sounds. How tight should you hold your "MANDO's" neck for proper tonality and ease of movement; POSTURE..probably the MOST important lesson of all may not be there..But you figure out how tired you may appear and feel as you do NOT really sit as you should, as many will look overtired or just too stiff~!~!Using your left hand;Using your right handpulloffs and a total of 62 separate lessons which include the following:separate lessons."Yankee Doodle"Oh SuzannaMore in two speeds: Slow Version & a fast version of:"Worried Man Blues";"Wildwood Flower";"Cripple Creek"; (Not "Up on Cripple Creek");"Cripple Creek #2";"John Hardy";"Red-Haired Boy";"Soldier's Joy";"8th Of January";"Billy in The Lowground";"Blackberry Blossom";"Bill Cheatum";"Sally Goodin"; There are also dozens of scales, Strumming, Chords:"G-C-D-C-Scale;G-Scale; plus the newer style of learning to play just about anything with :"Tabulature"."Pull-Offs";(Please excuse an occansioal repitition, but they are few, as I recalled some and had an Insert disk Book to read). You see, I thought that I had learned as much as I could, very rapidly, but, "Bert" takes his time and teaches to you much of the information you need to know, which you "ASSUMED" you knew without even going into more than one of these fine and very easy to follow "Bert Casey" lessons.
