1958 Conn Connstellation 38B For auction is an all original 1958 Conn Connstellation 38B. This horn has the big 38B sound! It can play dark, bright, high, soft, and loud; a truly versatile horn. The valves are in fantastic shape with hardly any wear and they have amazing compression. The trigger and the slides all are in excellent shape and move freely. The horn does not have any dents and there is no evidence of repair anywhere. The finish is a little rough since the lacquer that is placed over the nickel is starting to flake off. The nickel is around 80% with some wear around the 3rd valve casing. The bell has some scratches in the nickel finish but they are not deep. The engraving is perfectly clear. There is no red rot on the horn and a only a few spots of pitting on the tuning slide. The original Conn case is included. The horn plays fantastic and I am sorry to see it go. This is the type of horn that several pros played including Maynard Ferguson, Chet Baker, and Freddie Hubbard. For more information on the Conn 38B in general, please visit the Conn loyalist website : http://www.xs4all.nl/~cderksen/Conn38B1958image.htmlOn Oct-06-08 at 07:29:56 PDT, seller added the following information: The reserve has been lowered to $700.00. This is very reasonable for this instrument. These have been selling for $800-$1000 and they have not been in this good of condition.
