If you have a guitar project going, this wiring harness is the PERFECT compliment to it! It includes: 2 Alpha brand 500k audio taper pots (for the volume) 2 Alpha brand 500k linear taper pots (for the tone) a chrome Switchcraft-style 3-way toggle switch a chrome Switchcraft input jack 2 - .022mfd Sprague 400v "Orange Drop" capacitors vintage-style, cloth-covered "pushback" wire between the pots a detailed wiring diagram that is VERY easy to understand a tech support phone number to help you with you install (if needed) properly labeled leads to make the installation EASY! This wiring harness is grounded correctly (so as to not create ground loops as some of the wiring harnesses being sold on Ebay are doing... that is a VERY bad thing. It creates MONSTER buzz). There are 5 things that make a guitar sound good (or bad) and they are (not necessarily in order): the wood used in the guitar (hollowbody, semi-hollowbody, solid body, ash, mahogany, etc.) the type and quality of the pickups that you use the electronics of the guitar (the wiring harness and it's parts) the quality of the amplifier that you use. the size and quality of the strings that you use. AAAAA" Capacitors generally come into play when you have the "Tone" control turned up. Otherwise, they perform, essentially, a limited function. The value of the capacitors in this harness is .022mfd (as recommended by Gibson). The higher the value of the caps, the more treble is attenuated (bled off) and the darker (or muted) the sound. The value of these caps will give you that nice, creamy Les Paul sound that you're looking for! (assuming, of course, that you're running decent quality pickups too) If you want more of a brighter, treble sound (when you have your "Tone" turned up) , please let me know and I can custom make a wiring harness for you with a lower value cap (probably a .015 or so). I can also mix-&-match the caps... for instance, if you want a creamier sound on the bridge pickup and a brighter sound on the neck pickup, let me know and I can make that happen at no extra charge. Generally speaking, single coils have more of a treble sound right out of the box and humbuckers have a darker sound, so a higher value of cap is used for single coils than on humbuckers. Also, these are Alpha brand short-shaft, full-sized pots. Not "mini" pots. (of course, if your guitar has a smaller electronics bay, I can certainly make a harness with the "mini" pots for you) Although a lot of guitars use the short-shafted pots, if you need a longer shaft pot for your particular style guitar, PLEASE let me know in advance. (there is an additional charge of $20 for long-shafted pots - they have a threaded length of 3/4") The threaded length of the short-shafted pots is 3/8" so, if the thickness of your guitar body is greater than that, let me know and we'll build a harness for you with the longer-shafted pots. PLEASE MAKE THIS MEASUREMENT BEFORE BIDDING ON THIS ITEM OTHERWISE YOU WILL INCUR NOT ONLY THE ADDITIONAL COST OF PARTS BUT SHIPPING AGAIN AS WELL! (when I ship it the first time and when I ship it the next time with the longer-shaft pots) The harness is setup to just drop into the electronics bay of your guitar and the back of the pots are marked for easy identification. If you wire up this harness in your Les Paul, Flying V, SG, or 335 project, copy or any 2 humbucker pickup guitar, you will LOVE IT! Gold-finish or black-finish 3-way switch available at an additional cost. I will also include a detailed wiring diagram so you won't have any trouble soldering this to your existing pickup leads.
