African Star Wood djembe drum, 'African Star' by Samuel Coleman Artist Bio & Reviews Due to my interest in all things cultural things, I then decided to get involved in artworks, especially carving - drums to be specific. View other items by this artist In the Akan language, nsroma means "star," its warm glow sculpted on this djembe by Samuel Coleman. The drum originates in Benin, where it is used in traditional ceremonies and voodoo rituals. Coleman sculpts the drum from tweneboa wood, finished with mansion polish. The goatskin head is affixed by iron rings wrapped in cotton, and a macramé nylon cord can be slung over the shoulder.
