This is a very rare American Boy Bugle which has never been removed from its original packaging. It is attached to the original card with 2 staples over the handle. It is colorful red, white and blue and is made of tin and wood. Made in United States of America is on the bugle near the bottom along with patent no. 2,257,145 but I can find on evidence of the name of the manufacturer either on the bugle itself or on the card. The bugle measures approx. 6 1/2" long and is 1 1/4" across a the bottom. The wood is in the mouthpiece and the red "horn" part. The front side of the card gives the words and notes to 3 tunes " Assembly" "Mess Call" and "Taps". The reverse side shows how to hold the bugle and how to insert the bugle in the song card so you can read the notes while playing. This is a great vintage toy bugle and in excellent condition. Even tho it is attached to the card, there is some very minor corrosion on the handle and a couple of very minor marks on the body of the horn. The card itself has some soiling on the front and back and is yellowed consistent with age. This would make a great holiday gift for the vintage toy collector on your list.
