We were encouraged in our early years by the late David Munrow and many of his pioneering contemporaries, and it's almost true to say that The Early Music Shop is as old as the early music revival itself. It has certainly contributed to the continuing interest there has been in the field, making early music and its performance on original instruments accessible to a growing number of people. The Early Music Shop has become the largest single source of early musical instruments world-wide, containing a bewildering display of instruments by makers from every quarter of the globe, serving customers who are no less widely dispersed. Recent years have seen us developing with franchises abroad and the opening of The London Recorder Centre 34, Chiltern Street, London.Having recently out grown our shop in Bradford, we've moved to a brand new purpose built showroom at Salts Mill, Saltaire. Salts Mill is a World Heritage Site in the pretty village of Saltaire. Just 4 miles north of Bradford, Salts Mill houses the fabulous Hockney Gallery, the book shop, great food in stunning surroundings, to music, culture, art and an eclectic mix of traders. Salts Mill is one of the largest tourist attractions in the area. Positioned by the river Aire and the Leeds-Liverpool canal, Salts Mill is easily accessible by rail, bus, car and is only 15 minutes by taxi from Leeds/Bradford airport.
