This well loved Jumbo is truly the "King" of the Flattops. Hand signed by Ron Wood of The Rolling Stones. This guitar will astound you with every detail....and that is before you play it...when strummed it sounds heavenly...if you've played a J-200 you know what i'm talking about.....such power, such clarity....a perfect guitar! The specs are maple back and sides, with a curly maple neck....This signature guitar has a Sitka Spruce Top...but it is such a fine example, I'd swear it is Engleman...so creamy and fine....a BEAUTIFUL TOP!! ...also, abalone and mother of pearl custom inlays grace the pickguards, bridge, fretboard, and headstock....including a very cool Mother of Pearl signature on the headstock.... From the Gibson Website: Ron Wood Signature J-200--Last of the Limited Edition Ron Wood, famed guitarist for the Rolling Stones has long been attached to his Gibson 1950s SJ200 with customized double pickguards. It has been his companion acoustic for many years and has come to be known as the Wood-man's trademark acoustic within the ranks of the Stones. In 1997, Ron visualized a custom Gibson J-200 that he could forever call his very own. From a basic sketch faxed to Gibson Montana by Ron, master luthier Ren Ferguson created the Ron Wood Signature J-200. Soon after, this very original Gibson jumbo became a limited edition made by the Gibson Montana Custom Shop and available to the public for a limited time. Many of the design features of this original acoustic was based on Ron Wood's long cherished 1950s SJ-200. However, this new Signature Jumbo was created by Ron to reflect the wilder side of "art guitar" themes. To best describe this racy acoustic, one should visualize a Gibson J-200 acoustic completely set aflame. To create this pyrotechnic effect, Ren Ferguson designed each fingerboard inlay pattern to reflect varying sized flames, all handmade from abalone and mother of pearl. Ron Wood's trademark double pickguards were set afire by Mr. Ferguson's own hand engraved and painted artwork. And finally, Ron's personal caricature drawing was inlaid into the headstock of this jumbo with mother of pearl. Only two custom runs for this signature acoustic were scheduled, one run with an antique natural finish, and later a second run in a tripleburst finish.
