THE READER’S DIGEST FESTIVAL OF POPULAR SONGS FOR VOCAL, PIANO, & GUITAR, Edited by William Simon with music arranged and edited by Dan Fox One of the best song books ever published! The book is a compendium of 114 popular songs from every decade since the turn of the century (1900’s) and folk songs that go back even further. It is the fourth book in this series. A feature unique to this book is the inclusion of some instrumental selections, mainly for pianists and organists. The arrangements are much easier than the originals. There is also a small but select children’s section included with songs that should be equally appealing to adults. There are songs and themes from favorite films, top tunes of the 1930s, top tunes of the 1940s, the gaslight years and World War I, the sunny, funny 1920s, & popular hits of the 1950s ‘60s, & ‘70s. The arrangements were designed for musicians of everyday ability. They are easy to play and yet they sound full, modern and thoroughly professional. This terrific collection is spiral bound so that it stays flat when opened. For each song, there is a good bit of interesting information given about the origin of the song. There is an index to composers, an index to titles, and an index by category.
