BEWARE OF BUYING THE "ACADEMIC VERSION" ON EBAY - 1) Updates are very different than Upgrades. You wil NOT be eligible to upgrade your software with the "Full Academic" version. That means when the new version of Cubase comes out, you'll have to make this heafty purchase (several hundred $$) again, as opposed the small upgrade fee the rest of us will. Cubase is a very complex world, and for the next years to come, you'll want to be part of the constant interaction with the developers and other users thru upgrades and forums. It's silly to believe you'll only need this one version in an ongoing creative-technology developing industry like this. 2) Tech Support is NOT the same. There is an entire different department handling Academic/Educational versions, with the understanding that you won't be moving to the next version. Steinberg (as most developers) eventually stops support for older versions; and you'll feel like you have to seek relentlessly to find answers to your questions. 3) This last one is small but still inconvenient: For the Academic (or Full Academic) version you have to prove you are a student or educational faculty.
