Title: Lucky You Come Hawaii Composer: Bill Howe Publisher & Date: The Surf Rider Hotel, 1956 Format: Small - 9" X 12" An excellent copy of this souvenir piece of Hawaiian music from the Surf Rider Hotel. Pictured are the composer and hotel entertainer, Bill Howe, and a view of the Captain Cook Room where he presided. The back cover scan shows a view of the hotel, "a shining example of contemporary [1956] hotel design". This piece was designed to be folded in half and mailed to all the folks back home in upper New York state who were shivering in the latest blizzard, although this one was carefully tucked away in someone's suitcase and brought home unused. Condition is good, with no marks or tears, seam holding tightly. At one time it was folded horizontally, as if for mailing or perhaps was sold that way, but that fold has mostly ironed out over the years of being in a stack of music. There is a light crease running about 2/3 of the way down the left side, and some light wrinkling at the lower right. The back cover has a few light scuffs. Overall, an excellent Hawaiian souvenir, now more than half a century old. NOTE: The color on the back cover and the inside sheet is not blotchy and uneven. Except for minor age darkening around the edges, they are an even shade of creamy white. The shadowy look is an effect of the scanning process. The third scan is a sample of the music. The lyrics are by Marji Houser, who was not credited on the front cover.
