tools&stuff Store TENOR BANJO VINTAGE ORPHEUM NO 1 CIRCA 1915 - 1920 a.imagelink {color:#C9C9C9;} a:hover.imagelink {color:#C9C9C9;} a:visited.imagelink {color:#636363;} a.imagelink img.auctionimage { border: 2px solid #C9C9C9; } a:visited.imagelink img.auctionimage { border: 2px solid #636363; } ORPHEUM NO. 1 TENOR BANJO CIRCA 1915 - 1920 VINTAGEHere is an old Orpheum No. 1 tenor banjo which has not been played in many years.  It's hard to say where it has been - the hooks as well as some of its washers and screws are quite rusty.  Nothing seems badly pitted though.  The nickel plated brass parts are fine.  It has the tubular tone ring mounted on steel pins set into the rim - an Orpheum hallmark.  The rim is laminated bird's-eye maple with a maple cap on the bottom edge.  The neck is also bird's-eye maple.  The fingerboard is somewhat faded but is in otherwise very good condition.  All of the elaborate abalone inlay is in nice condition.  The neck is straight and the frets have only normal wear.  Original tuners with grained ivoroid buttons.  The head has been replaced.  The tailpiece is missing.  Inside the rim there is a tag which says "Orpheum, made by Rettberg & Lange, New York."  The dowel stick is stamped with serial number 5390.  All of the hooks, nuts and shoes are there.  A small piece of the black celluloid neck binding is missing.  No strings or bridge.  The original case is a bit rough but still serviceable.  One latch has a broken spring.  Very low reserve.  All dimensions given in inches.Head diameter:  11"Scale length:  20 7/8"17 Frets24 Hooks (brackets)Please email us for shipping options and costs.  Some locations have restrictions on size, etc. that make shipping very difficult.  Do not bid unless shipping is available, acceptable and affordable.We pack well!!  See our feedback.   Payment with Paypal is preferred.
