All works are made exclusively by Carter, without the use of kits or pre-made parts. All instruments are made from high quality hardwood lumbers, no laminates or painted low-grade woods. Hardware is always selected for top performance, as well as aesthetics. CCImediums applies a durable, clear finish to all instruments, to allow for fast, smooth play, and to show off the natural beauty of the woods. All instruments leave the workbench set up for correct intonation and string action height. Carter began building guitars in 1995, attending the Totnes School of Guitar Making and receiving his Luthier's Certificate. He then studied Sound Design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. After graduation, he took a mill floor position with Dusty Strings, a high end manufacturer of Harps and Hammered Dulcimers. He now operates CCImediums full time, building 10 - 25 instruments a year.
