Vintage Gebruder Monnig Wood Oboe I personally know nothing about Musical Instruments so I consulted a European Expert on the subject so that I could provide you the correct information in the listing. The name in the wood bell is "Gebruder Monnig". Underneath the name it reads: Markneukirchen and it is numbered 6998 under that. The estimated age is just prior to WWII. The instrument is being sold as found, because I do not want to clean it improperly. It is dirty and needs a good proper cleaning. It comes with the original case, which is very worn, but sturdy condition. Expert: "It is an oboe-holed oboe with a fully automatic octave key system, long F, the usual trill keys, F vent, banana key, a linked low B/C and will play down to the usual B flat below middle C." The wood is not cracked or damaged, it is in very good condition. For your information: In it's present condition he valued the instrument at between 750.00 & 800.00 If re-corked at the joints, new pads and springs the value could reasonably go up to 1250.00.
