Yamaha makes fine instruments. This instrument is complete and seems to work in all ways. The pads are in good but used condition. I have only inspected this instrument visually because I didn't want to buy an oboe reed. I tested each section and they seem sound. I am a retired band director and usually play each instrument before I sell them. Oboe is usually not an instrument that students start playing first. Most Oboe player are ex-Clarinet or Flute players. This horn is made of some type of resin or plastic it is not a wood instrument. The horn has some small scratches but in general it is not too noticable.
